ELWIN W. (DUSTY) MERITHEW, 76, of 220 Willow St., Athens died March 15, 1989 at Robert Packer Hospital following a short illness. Born Dec. 10, 1912 in Athens, he was the son of Frank and Lottie Campbell Merithew.

Mr. Merithew was a lifelong resident of Athens. He was employed at the former Walker Plumbing and later Friant Plumbing of Athens.

He is survived by a son, Ronald of Shortsville, N.Y., a daughter, Shirley at home; a sister, Mrs. Leola Cheney of Endwell, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Roxanne of Shortsville and two nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Luella Lola Merithew in November 1986.

Friends may call at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held there on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arnold Covey, pastor of First Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens.
