Ruby worked at Alabaster Industries and retired from Thompson Elementary School Cafeteria. She was a member of Ryan Baptist Church for many years. She was also a member of the Alabaster Chapter #476 Order of the Easter Star.

She died at her home in Alabaster, AL, surrounded by her family. Visitation was held November 18 at Charter Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on November 19 at Ryan Baptist Church, Brother Charles Stapp officiating.

Her parents were Vaughn Ervin and Ruby Mae Atkins Dawkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond E. "Shorty" Yessick; son, Raymond Earl Yessick; sisters, JoAnn Simpson and Lou Akins; brothers, Edward "Ebb" and Billy Ray Dawkins.

She was survived by her daughter, 2 sons, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
