Carolyn June "Granny" Alderson, 70, of Palestine, Ill., passed away at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9. 2005 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Ill. Born Sept. 8, 1934 in Linton, she was the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Gillette) Sims. On June 27, 1952, she married Jack Alderson, who passed away Feb. 5, 1998. She was a cook for years in local restaurants in Crawford County. She owned and operated the B & B Restaurant in Palestine, cooked at the Elks Club in Robinson, and had cooked at the Village Inn in Palestine for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Palestine Eagles Lodge Auxiliary and was Past President of that organization. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, played cards and bingo, made "Granny's Home Made Pies," and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: two sons and her daughter-in-law, Ricky Ray and Cathy Alderson of rural Palestine, Ill., and Joe Alderson of Palestine, Ill.; two grandchildren, Matt and his wife Kristen Alderson of Robinson, Ill., and Jamie and her husband Cory McDaniel of Palestine, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Karleigh and Trent Alderson, and Payton "Punky" McDaniel; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and William Henson of Fishers, Dorothy and Bill Roberts of Linton, and Rosemary Stough of Worthington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Alderson, two sisters, Marie Bush and Cora Jones, and three brothers, Clovis, Jesse, and Roy Sims. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, Ill., with the Rev. John Brand officiating. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery.
