Marvin Faber, 62, of Boyden died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleburg. The Rev. Stephen Breen officiated. Burial followed at Capel Township Cemetery near Middleburg under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Marvin was born March 12, 1939, at Orange City, the son of William H. and Esther (Berkenpas) Faber. He was raised mostly in Orange City where he attended the Christian School.

On April 29, 1959, he married Marilyn Ann De Leeuw at Middleburg. They first lived north of Orange City. In 1963 they moved into Middleburg, and they moved to a farm
near Middleburg in 1971. In 1996 they moved to Boyden.

In earlier years Marv worked at Silent Sioux in Orange City. For much of his life he was employed by Dethmers Mfg. in Boyden, mostly as a production manager and later in the assembly division.

He enjoyed farming and was always fixing things and working on various projects. His grandchildren were a special joy to him.

Mr. Faber was a member of the Free Grace Reformed Church where he had served as a deacon. He had also been a 4-H leader.

In 1978 Marv was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. He appreciated the handicapped accessible house he and Marilyn built in Boyden.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Rick Faber and his wife Jean of Omaha, Neb., Deb and her husband Scott Van Buren of Willmar, Minn, and Randy Faber of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Melissa and Jenna Van Buren and Lauren Faber; and a brother, Kenneth Faber of Sioux Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry.
