Roy Wilson Hodges, age 87, of Florence, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at ECM Hospital.He was a native of Jackson County, Ala., and was a retired foreman from International Mineral & Chemical.Mr. Hodges was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, where he served in the Pacific Theater, serving in the Philippines, Luzon, Ryukyus and Okinawa. During this time, he received the Southern Philippines Liberation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Stony Point Church of Christ Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Derrel Davis.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Statom Hodges; parents, Chester and Stella Nichols Hodges; brothers, Harold and R.T. Hodges; and sisters, Vivian Lewis and Estelle Brown.He is survived by his sons, Roy Wade Hodges, of Sheffield, Larry Joe Hodges and wife, Lonnet, of Killen, and Johnny Dale Hodges and wife, Beverlia, of Rogersville; sister, Clarice White, of Florence; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Jody Hodges, Jason Hodges, Greg Hodges, Vic Hodges, Gary White and Larry Larkin.Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Comer, Randy McMurtrey, Thurston Hodges and his friends at Country Boy's Restaurant.The family would like to thank the Florence Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the staff of 4 North for their loving care.Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing..
