Graveside services for Thomas R. Hedgecoke of Lafayette will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the McMinnville Masonic Cemetery. Officiating will be Ed Jordon of the Grand Masonic Lodge, A.F.&A.M.

Mr. Hedgecoke died May 9, 1992, in Newberg Community Hospital. He was 86.

Born Oct. 11, 1905, in Bebe, Ark., he was the son of Escar and Louisa Trumble Hedgecoke. He grew up and went to school in Texas. As a young man, he moved to Colorado.

He and Verna C. Wiley were married Dec. 20, 1930, in LaJunta, Colo. Mrs. Hedgecoke preceded her husband in death in 1984.

Mr. Hedgecoke lived in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas until 1941. He then moved to Lafayette.

He was mayor of Lafayette in the mid-1950s. He also was fire chief for many years.

He was a member of Union Masonic Lodge No. 3, A.F.&A.M.

Survivors include his sons, Dale S. of Lafayette and Thomas A. of Salem; two daughters, Georgia of Lafayette and Christine Skelley of Lake Oswego; two brothers, Willis of Ft. Sumner, N.M., and Robert of San Francisco; two sisters, Lucy of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and Rose Reynolds of Carnegie, Okla.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Vaugn, and a daughter, Dixie.

Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children.
