Myrtle Borning - Advocate Tribune, Clarksfield, MN

Myrtle Borning, 90, of Woodbury, formerly of Marshall, died May 2, 2004 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at St. John Lutheran Church in Woodbury with Rev. Jonathan Maxhausen officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Granite Falls with Rev. Keith Becknase officiating.

Myrtle Laura Borning was born Dec. 9, 1913 in rural Claremont to Albert and Anna Hargefeld. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a graduate of Owatonna High School and Mankato Commercial College, after which she was employed as a legal secretary.

Myrtle married Willis Borning on Oct. 16, 1940. After World War II they moved to Echo until 1971 when they moved to Granite Falls. Myrtle worked at Neal's Variety and Ben Franklin Store until she retired in 1982. In May of 1995 they moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall. And in October 2003 she moved to the Twin Cities area. Myrtle was a member of the LWML and taught Sunday School.

She is survived by two sons: Tom of Inver Grove Heights and Gary (and Judith) of Diamond Bar, CA: daughter Eileen (and Ed) Ocone of Woodbury; son-in law Cliff Williams of Eureka CA; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2002, daughter Janet Williams in 1989, two brothers and five sisters.
