Marlin C. Adams, 76, of Carlisle died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, in his home.
Born Sept. 23, 1932, in Carlisle, a son of the late Frank and Bertha Richwine Adams, and the widower of Dolores V. Palmer Adams.
Marlin retired from the former Bedford Shoe Co. and from the Carlisle Barracks Commissary, he also was employed by the Carlisle High School as a custodian. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 477, Carlisle. Marlin enjoyed all sports, especially football and the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are four daughters, Karan Smith (and husband, Gary) of Carlisle, Marlene Gillaugh (and husband, Jeffery) of Carlisle, Melinda Karper (and husband, Troy) of Gardners and Bell Ingle of Carlisle; a son, Jeff Adams of Carlisle; a brother, Clair Adams of Carlisle; five sisters, Mildred Stoner of Carlisle, Sarah Albert of Carlisle, Lois Dougherty of Camp Hill, Doris Monismith of Carlisle and Jackie Spahr of Carlisle; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Barry Palmer and Marlin Adams Jr.; six brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Mary Medkeff-Rose officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
