Harry "Sonny" Hepler, 87, a lifelong resident of West Newton, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born Sept. 13, 1917, in West Newton, the son of the late Norman and Matilda Hudock Hepler. Harry was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Combustion Engineering, in Monongahela, U.S. Steel National Tube Works, in McKeesport, and American Standard Fusee, in West Newton. He was a past member of VFW Post 7812 in West Newton. Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as woodworking. Harry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sophie Nader Hepler; and his son, Harry Hepler and Annetta, of Youngwood. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the RICHARD F. DODSON MEMORIAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. William Sukolsky officiating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
