Lois J. Russell, 81, Altoona, went to be with the Lord Wednesday at Altoona Regional after a brief illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Gilbert and Blanche (Farrell) McGeary. She married Paul Russell on Sept. 26, 1951, in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2005.
Surviving are five children: Paul R. Russell Jr., John D. Russell and Deborah Ann Russell, all of Altoona and Dianne L. Zientz and Donna J. Russell, both of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; nine grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Russell; a granddaughter, Kimberly O'Donnell; a brother, Harold McGeary; and a sister, Barbara Lendek.
She was a member of First Church of Christ. She retired as a bookkeeper from Russell Tire.
Lois enjoyed camping, karaoke and travel. She had her pilot's license.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, officiated by Pastor John Collins.
Interment will at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
