She married Michael Wm. Moore on Sep. 27, 1916 in Chunky. She had just turned 18 yrs. of age. "Will" Moore was at that time 42 yrs. of age.
She was a loving person & I'm proud to say my great-grandmother.
She was a tough survivor outliving her husband by 33 yrs & still managing the farm, cattle, & chickens living alone an abundance of that time. I helped her gather eggs in the old barn when I was a little guy. I spent the night in her home several times as we visited from Georgia in my younger years with my father, Charles Moore & our immediate family: Janette, Brad (me), Joan, Vicki & Sherri. She told me many stories of my grandfather, Vernon, who I sadly didn't get to know. He died in 1956. I loved her a lot; a great lady with a memorable laugh. We took trips to town for ice cream & cowboy hats (Hickory) with a friend of mine who went with us one trip (Neal Brown. We visited relatives (Pete?), played in a limestone creek nearby where the water was clear & cool. We got into some thorn trees, ant hills, and swamps as well. Great memories. The land there also has an old house where my father was born. Whenever we visited he never failed to crawl in the window of that falling down house which he referred to as "the old place". He especially loved visiting Great-Grandmother and she loved spending time with him. We called her simply, "Grandmother", which was of course Dad's name for her.
Notes for Emma Moore:
Daughter of: Durwood Belmont Cannon and Leona McAdory.
Emma did not give birth to any children but she loved and raised the children of Michael (Will) as though they were her own. She was a step-mother to my grandfather, Vernon William Moore.
Burial: June 14, 1996, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Chunky, Newton Co., MS.
