Born in Abbeville, SC he was a son of the late Carl S. and Helen Clark Bond.
He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was a retired employee of Milliken Textiles in the Maintenance Department with over 40 years of service. He was also a member of Southside Baptist Church. Smokey will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
Survivors include 1 son William Carl (Billy) Bond, Jr. and his wife Jean of Hodges, SC; 2 daughters Marian Samion and her husband Blaise of Butler, TN and Darnell Hughes and husband John of Wilmington, NC; 1 sister Ann Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Lila Jean Lawton and a brother Corley Bond.
