On May 31,1941,he was united in marriage to Genevieve Rogers and to this union two sons were born.
Genevieve passed away on December 30,2000. In 2003, he married Freeda A. Griffin.
Leland E. North served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on the USS Mugford, which was the third ship into Nagasaki following the dropping of the atomic bomb there. He was a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood for a time and also worked for the Modine Corporation in Camdenton.
He was a longtime area cattle farmer and stockman and also raised champion Fox Trotting horses. He was a charter member of the Laclede County Fox Trotting Horse Association.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve, a daughter-in-law Missy North; a granddaughter, Andraa Lynn North; and a grandson, Heath North.
He is survived by his wife, Freeda, of the home; two sons, Bob North of Lebanon and Johnny North and his wife Kerry, of Lebanon; three grandsons, Cory North, Wesley North and Travis North and his wife, Amanda; a great-granddaughter, London North and one eagerly anticipated.
