Funeral services will be held Thursday for Cedric E. Emahiser who died Sept. 28, 1986 in Eureka at age 79. He was a native of Rippey, Iowa and a resident of Eureka.

Cedric served as an Oregon State police officer for more than 15 years before moving to Eureka in 1946. He became affiliated with the Eureka Police Department as an officer and was promoted to police chief in 1948. He retired in 1972.

Cedric is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Emahiser of Eureka; his children, Bill Kay of Eureka, Don Kay of Portland, Ore., and Beverly Jennings of Warrington, Ore.; his 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Paul Emahiser.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services Thursday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. at Chapel of the Ferns-Cooper Mortuary in Eureka with the Rev. Father Douglas Thompson of the Christ Episcopal Church of Eureka officiating.

Private inurment will be held at Ocean View Cemetery in Eureka.

Honarary bearers are Pete Procissi, Barney Gallagher, Bob Graham, Arnie Millsap, Johnny Mora, Pete Davenport, Jack Spittler, Jim Carey, Gordon Busey, Vern Westphal, and Charles Swanson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Ferns-Cooper Mortuary in Eureka, where friends may call for visitation Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humboldt Area Foundation.
