The Washington State Digital Archive death record transcription for Emanuel Brannan's father shows the name John, not Moses. This writer has not yet learned why or what it means regarding Emanuel's parentage.

Census records show Emanuel married to a Mary Brannan before he married Millie Rooks. Mary was with him in the 1856 Marengo, Iowa Co, Iowa, USA census and the 1860 Honey Lake Valley, Nataqua Territory/Roop Co, Nevada Territory, USA federal census. Mary either died or was divorced from Emanuel as he married Milly Rooks in 1862. This writer has not yet discovered Mary's maiden name in order to trace her origin or place and time of death.
