Gertrude E. McDonough, age 93, of Milford, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2005. Mrs. McDonough was born in Bridgeport, on October 13, 1911, to the late Charles H. and Margaret Costello Eckler and was a lifelong Milford and Bridgeport area resident. She was retired from United Aircraft where she was employed for 27 years. Mrs. McDonough was a member of the Milford Senior Center, Norden's Retiree Club and a longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Church. Survivors include a son, Chet H. McDonough and his wife, Joan, of Milford; a daughter, Lorra Laurence of New Milford; three grandchildren, Chet H. McDonough Jr., Craig McDonough and Collin McDonough; four great-grandchildren, Chet III, Michael, Ryan and Annabella; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. McDonough was predeceased by a brother, Gordon Eckler; and a sister, Ramona Konder. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518.
