Wendy Wingfield Martin ALBANY - Wendy Wingfield Martin, 56, of 514 Lakeshore Drive, Cordele, GA, died May 19, 2011 at her residence. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday at 4:00 PM at the Warwick United Methodist Church. Rev. Scott Tomlinson and Rev. Rick Hamilton will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Born in Indianapolis, IN, Wendy resided in Lee County most of her life before moving to Lake Blackshear in 2004. After attending Deerfield Windsor High School, she attended Georgia Southern University, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Wendy graduated from the University of Georgia in 1977 with a degree in education and received her Master's Degree from Albany State University in 1994. She received her specialist degree in education from the University of Georgia in 2005. She was a member of Warwick United Methodist Church, the Lighthouse Sunday School Class, and served on numerous committees. Wendy was a member of the Junior Women's Club and a past president of the Junior League of Albany. She served on the Lee County Board of Education from 1988-2000 and served as chairman from 1994-1998. She served as president of the Georgia School Board Association from 1996-97 and was a member of the National School Board Association from 1996-2000. She was most recently the Vice President of Public Policy and Communication at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the board from Flint Community Bank. Survivors include her husband, Roy M. Martin, Jr. of Cordele, GA; two daughters, Jenny Liston and her husband, Lacey, of Leesburg, GA, and Paige Martin of Durham, NC; a brother, Neil Wingfield and his wife, Shelley, of Leesburg, GA; a sister, Kim Smith and her husband, Scott, of Salt Lake City, UT; and two grandchildren, Landry and Annie Liston. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Norma and Jim Wingfield.
