Jane Skaggs

WHITEWRIGHT - Dorris Jane Barrett Skaggs was born May 1, 1926 in Trenton to James Absalom Barrett and Lois Ellen Adams Barrett. She married Sam Charles Skaggs on July 7, 1945 in Trenton. She died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at her residence in Whitewright at the age of 87.

Jane was a loving wife and mother. She served as a Campfire Girl Leader, and as a room mother. She enjoyed her Wednesday Bridge Club with her friends. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Whitewright.

She is survived by daughter, Leslie Coker and husband Steve of Whitewright; granddaughter, Allison Coker of Dallas; one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 55 years, Charles Skaggs; her parents, James and Lois Barrett ; and her sisters, Aletha, Eula Vae and Blanche.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Roland Ouellette and Rev. Rodney Stanford. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. Pallbearers will be Butch Warrington, Bill White, Carl Braswell, Roy Nelson, Larry Threadgill, and Rod Earnheart. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph Brown and Joe Bodine.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.

The family wishes to offer a special Thank You to the Grayson Home Hospice and to her special caregivers, Daphna Boatwright, Susan Esqueville, Angela Myers and Lorene Tadlock.

Memorials may be made to the Grayson Home Hospice or to the Bethel Baptist Building Fund
