Sanford Joseph Aamodt "Stan" Oct. 17, 1931 ~ Nov. 8, 2010 Resident of Martinez Sanford passed away after complications from abdominal surgery. He was born in Pekin ND in a little farmhouse. The second of three children, it was there that he learned the value of good hard work and living a simple life. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the Navy, where he served 4 years active duty on the U.S.S. Caliente. Towards the end of his tour of duty, his ship docked in Oakland, CA where he met his future bride JoAnne Aiello at Sweet's Ballroom. It was Love at first sight. He worked for 28 years in the maintenance department at Diablo Valley College. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, domestic travel, back yard BBQs with his family and Giants Baseball. Stanford is survived by his loving children Cathy Aamodt of Alamo, Diane Cornwell (Steve) of Martinez, Steven Aamodt of Martine; and two grandsons Robert Aamodt and Nathan Cornwell of Concord. He is also survived by his sister Katherine Holiweger of Moorhead MN. He was preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Severin Aamodt; his brother Severin Aamodt "Jr."; and his beloved wife of 31 years Joann Aamodt "Jenny". Graveside Services will be private. Goodbye Daddy, we will Love and Miss you always.
