E. Dale Peck, 74, 618 East Highland Ave, prominent Carthage business and civic leader, died at 4:15 p.m. Monday at McCune-Brooks Hospital where he had been a patient a week.
Born May 21, 1917 at Bentonville, Arkansas he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Peck. The family moved in 1919 to Carthage and he was graduated in 1935 from Carthage High School.
In 1937 he joined Smith Brothers Manufacturing Company. He retired from the firm in 1973, at which time he held the post of vice president of manufacturing.
A member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church, he was past president and 20 year member of the Carthage Municipal Airport Board and past president of the Carthage Little League Association.
He was married March 25, 1951 in Carthage to Wilma Downs. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary Peck of Seal Beach, CA. and David Peck, of Springfield, MO.; a brother Glen Peck of Boulder, CO.; two sisters Mrs. Merle Jenkins of Overland Park, KS and Maxine Redmond of Carthage and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bruce Glover will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery under the direction of Knell Mortuary.
