Son of Michael and Francena (Loretta) Bush.
Enlisted as a SERGT in CO C 33 ILL INF from Bloomington, Illinois on August 15, 1861.
Promoted to Full 2nd LIEUT on May 16, 1863.
Promoted to full 1st LIEUT on December 26, 1863.
Mustered out at Vicksburg, Mississippi on November 24, 1865.
He returned to Bloomington after the Civil War and married Elizabeth M. in 1867. By 1880 he was living in Los Angeles, California with his wife and children and was employed as a plumber, working for Chapman & Paul. He was still in Los Angeles in 1896. By 1898 he had moved to the vicinity of Escondido in San Diego County, California. He remained occupied in the pipe business, listing his occupation as a tinner. In Escondido his employers were E. M. Churchill & Co. and Robertson & Cassou. He remained in Escondido, working as a tinner, for the remainder of his life.
