Excerpt from obituary, Villisca Review, 3 May 1951:
...Hal Hausen, son of Harrison Hausen and Nancy Wilder Hausen, was born in Lee Co Illinois, Apr 6, 1869. He received his early education in the schools of Franklin Grove IL and attended college in Dixon IL. In the late 1880s he came to Iowa to operate a farm west of Villisca, living in the home of his sister, Mrs Wertman.

In Nov 1890 he was united in marriage to Martha Ann Werne and six children were born to this union. Mrs Hausen died in 1931 and a daughter, Pearl, in 1943. In 1938 Mr Hausen was married to Mrs Minnie Johnson of Osceola IA, who with his five children survive him. The children are Harry Hausen and Mrs Yale Wright, Villisca; Margaret Hausen, Springfield IL; Mrs Walter Glenn, Oklahoma City; and C S Clausen, Clarinda. There are 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and a brother, F H Hausen, of Franklin Grove, IL.

About 1920 Mr Hausen moved his family to Villisca and he became the executive vice president of Villisca National Bank, now the Nodaway Valley National Bank. During his years in business here, he was active in community affairs, being president of the Chamber of Commerce, and one of the early members of the Villisca Country Club. He was a member of the Montgomery Lodge of the Masonic order, as long as he was able to attend...
