Mrs. John W. Basham
Margaret Middaugh was born in Indiana November 27, 1840, and died at the home of her son, Arthur Basham of this city, January 18, 1918, aged 77 years, 1 month and 21 days.
She was united in marriage a short time before the Civil War to Steven Barham (sp), who died during the war.
On February 4, 1868, she was united in marriage to John W. Basham. To this union was born five children: Arthur Basham, Mrs. Laura Kathrineborg and Mrs. Amelia Blanchard. Two children died in infancy.
She united with the United Brethren church 22 years before her departure. She lived a faithful christian life until the end.
Mr. Basham preceded her to the final resting place April 28, 1917. Since then she has made her home with her children.
Besides her many friends she leaves to mourn her departure two sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church at two o'clock Sunday, January 20th, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hay, and interment was made in the Belleville cemetery beside her husband.
