Visitation will be on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Tom Eddins, Jerry Durham and Mandy Eddins Richey officiating. Interment will follow in the Grinder's Creek Cemetery.
Obituary
Mr. Brackeen was born in Athens, AL to the late Ira C. and Amanda Stanford Brackeen. He was a master carpenter and built many houses in Lewis and surrounding counties. He was a Christian and a former elder of the Grinder's Creek Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Doris Hinson Brackeen of Hohenwald; son, Jeff Brackeen of Hohenwald; daughter, Melody Eddins (Tom) of Hohenwald; brother, Marion Brackeen of Hohenwald; sister, Bessie Franklin of Fruitland, FL; daughter-in-law, Donna Brackeen of Hohenwald; also 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Preferred Charities and Donations
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to either the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund or Unity Hospice.
