Death the morning of January 8, 1921, claimed another sacrifice on the altar of motherhood, when Mrs. Maude Orth Field, the wife of Erle P. Field, passed away at Monmouth hospital, following the birth of a baby girl. Mrs. Field was taken to the hospital the night before her death, and after the birth of her sixth child she passed away. Her maiden name was Orth, and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Orth, and born in Keithsburg in 1884. She attended Monmouth college for two years and was a member of the Phi Delta Sigma-society. She married Erle Field in 1908, and her six children with their father mourned her loss. She was also survived by her mother and several brothers and sisters. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. J. Reade McCrory, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church, with burial in Monmouth cemetery.
