Edwin E Moore, son of Lois Henry and Robert Moore was born Feb 9 1855 in Jefferson Co Wisconsin. He was educated in the country school, Milton College and Northwestern University. He Graduated from Chicago Medical College in 1878, and came directly to Merrillan to engage in the practice of Medicine.
In 1879 he was married to Angie E Merrill, duaghter of Mr and Mrs B. H. Merrill of Merrillan. One daughter Ethel Moore Bennett, of Madison was born to this union. In 1886 Mrs. Moore passed away in California. Dr Moore returned to Merrillan and continued his practice of Medicine.
In 1887 he was married to Harriet C. Wescott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I.O. Wescott. One daughter Edith Moore Bennett of Martins Ferry Ohio, was born to this union.
Dr. Moore has been in poor health for some time, but the last two months has been confined to his home. The end came quietly Tuesday afternoon, at 5:15.
Mrs. Harriett Moore, and daughters Ethel and Edith and five grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Hugh Norman of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, and one brother Arthur of Burt Iowa, besides nieces and nephews survive him.
Dr. Moore was a member of the Methodist Church, and served as Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master; a charter member of the Eastern Star, and served as its first Patron; a member of the Modern Woodmen and an honorary member of the Camp Fire Girls.
Dr. Moore has been connected with the history of Merrillan and this vacinity so long, almost since it's very beginning, that it seems unnecessary for us to remind our readers of his many fine qualities. Everybody knew him.
The funeral was held from the church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, and was conducted by the Rev. Litchfield and REv. Upson of Madison. The Masonic Order also gave their burial service for a departed member and was given by John Gruber of B.R Falls (Black River Falls) The B. R. Falls Mixed Quartet gave two very fine selections, with Mrs Merlin Hull at the organ. Many came in from the country and surrounding towns to pay their last respects to a friend they had known so long. Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery
