Mary is the daughter of Moses Tidwell and Luvira Dudley. She married Dr. George W Anderson on 19 Mar 1871 in Dickson County, Tennessee.

George got his medical degree in 1868 in Nashville, TN. By 1877 in had left Mary in Dickson County, TN and was practicing medicine in Shasta county, California. By 1881 he had set up his practice in Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon. On 15 Apr 1882 he was arrested in Portland, Oregon. A few months prior to his death he had been charged with adultery in Lane County. His trial was set for April but he fled to Portland in an attempt to avoid the disgrace. He committed suicide while in jail. The Portland officials were unable to find his wife, Mary K. Anderson so Dr. Anderson was buried in the potter field in Portland. He died 16 Apr 1882.

When the authorities went through his belongings they found letters from his wife, Mary K. Anderson of Dickson County, Tennessee.

Mary later married John Izma Adams.
