Robert W. Bingham, 83, of Bloomington, died Friday, March 14th, 2003, at the Bloomington Hospital.
He was born on June 6th, 1919, in Madison, IN, the son of Robert S. and Zoe Bingham.
He was a 1936 graduate of Bloomington High School and received both BS and MS degrees from Indiana University. He had also been an Eagle Scout.
He was an overseas veteran of WWII, having spent time in the Southwest Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army.
He was a high school basketball coach at Stinesville, Jasonville and Winimac, where he was also principal of the high school. He later worked with the milk industry in Chicago and worked 27 years with the Richard D. Irwin Publishing Company, serving as Midwest and Western Regional Vice President before retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Bingham of Bloomington, Ind.; daughters, Judith Ann Nelson and Sally Stanley, both of Littleton, Colo., and Lisa Neece of Denver, Colorado; two stepchildren, Mark Rushing of Indianapolis, Ind., and Susan Smith of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 17th at the Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Holly Hardsaw officiating.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 16th from 2-5 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington.
