My beloved mother-in-law, RETTIE CLAYTON. She is my second husband, WILEY SIMMON'S, mother.

**************************************

RETTIE married LEVI FRANKLIN SIMMONS on March 24, 1927. She was sixteen years old and gave birth to her first born child, WILEY, in December of that year. She and LEVI had three additional children; VIRGINIA, MARVIN and JOLLY.

Sadly, her husband was killed in an automobile accident when WILEY was six-and-a-half years old.

RETTIE was a wonderful mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She suffered the loss of her oldest child, WILEY (my husband), who died on May 1, 1998. At that time, WILEY and I lived at McKenzie Bridge, Oregon. We ended up retiring there in June of 1982 due to the area being so beautiful and pristine. We lived beside the McKenzie river in an RV park for some years until making the decision to buy our own property. We drove back and forth to California visiting RETTIE and other relatives (both his and mine), numerous times over the years.

**************************************

After years of living independently in an apartment complex in Lindsay, California, RETTIE moved into an assisted living-type complex. She was joined there fairly soon by her daughter, VIRGINIA, a widow. Both Mom CLAYTON and VIRGINIA enjoyed living there and had rooms across the hall from each other. They loved visiting with the other folks living there; also the numerous visitors coming and going each day. They loved the idea of being cooked for, and they actually enjoyed the food. The staff were very kind, competent and helpful.

**************************************
VIRGINIA passed on to be with the Lord in February 2005. Our beloved RETTIE passed on months later, in May.
