KEITH EMMONS ABBOTT (1934-2012)
LINDENHURST, Ill. - Keith Emmons Abbott, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Saturday (March 10, 2012) at Westmoreland Nursing Center in Lake Forest after a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Franklinville, a son of the late Harold Abbott and Edna Smith Gibbons. On Oct. 16, 1956, he married Erla Breen in Pennsylvania. He moved to Lindenhurst in 1976.

Keith was a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy, class of 1952; and a graduate of Alfred University, class of 1956, where he received a degree in ceramic engineering. He was also a member of Kappa Psi Epsilon. Keith began his career working as an engineer for General Electric in Syracuse, N.Y., where he worked for 17 years, also instructing some classes at Syracuse University. He later worked as an engineer and quality control manager for Abbott Laboratories for 28 years before retiring.

Keith loved traveling; learning everything, from languages to history; writing poetry and drawing. He was a connoisseur of wine and food. He will always be known as a hard worker and problem solver.

Survivors include: Erla, his wife of 56 years; four children, Diane Dzurilla of Medina, Ohio, Keith Michael (Agnes Catherine) Abbott of Fox Lake, Richard Allen Abbott of Lindenhurst and Dr. Robert Emmons Abbott of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Apryl (Billy) McCoy, Anthony Dzurilla, Douglas Dzurilla, Nathan Abbott, Anthony Payton Abbott and Chloe Abbott; great-grandchildren Aiya and Ami McCoy; a sister in-law, Donna Abbott of Franklinville; a niece, Amy (Dr. Andrew) McDonnell and their children, Drew and Liam, of Trumansburg; a nephew, Lee (Kim) Abbott of Fredonia; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Phillip Abbott of Franklinville, on March 31, 2010.

Funeral services and interment were private in Millburn Cemetery, Old Mill Creek.

KEITH EMMONS ABBOTT (1934-2012)
