Phillip was the son of George and Elizabeth (Meador) Hedrick.

Phillip married Effie Gilliam. They lived in Odd, West Virginia. Phillip went by his middle name, Green. Green owned and operated a general store opposite his home in Odd for a number of years before moving the business to Mabscott, West Virginia. There he expanded his services.

In 1912 Green was serving as Deputy Sheriff for Raleigh County. When Green died he was originally buried in the Odd Cemetery, then about 1940 he was disinterred and reburied at Sunset Memorial Park.

Green and Effie had four children:

1. George Eldrege Hedrick (1901 - 1982)
2. Cline Hedrick (no dates)
3. Daphna Hedrick Bolen (1911 - 1972)
4. Athalene Hedrick (no dates)

Green had the following siblings:

1. Cleveland Hendricks Hedrick (1885 - 1967)
2. Annie E. Hedrick Bair Graham (1889 - 1973)
