Ollie Slaybaugh, 91, of Stuart, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Community Care Center in Stuart.

Ollie M. Slaybaugh, son of Jennie Angeline (Tallman) and Orvil Earl Slaybaugh was born January 21, 1916 in Guthrie County, IA. Ollie graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1933.

Ollie married Dorothy Cramer on May 23, 1939 in Guthrie Center, IA. Ollie farmed in Audubon and Guthrie Counties until 1956. He mined coal in the winters from 1933 into the 1940's. Ollie also worked as a lineman for the Menlo Telephone Company while farming before working as a janitor for many years for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and St. Mary's School from 1955. Ollie retired in January of 1981.

Ollie was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Ollie is survived by daughter Joyce (husband Sam) Ford of Stuart; three sons Michael (wife Jean) Slaybaugh of Urbandale, Gregory (wife Kim) Slaybaugh of New Virginia and Joel Slaybaugh of New Virginia; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-great- grandchildren; Brother Vern (wife Marjorie) Slaybaugh of Panora; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Ollie was preceded in death by his parents, wife of sixty-five years Dorothy, brothers Ivyl and Walter Slaybaugh and a sister Nyla Pruitt.
