Ruby's family was of old New England stock from Vermont and New Hampshire. She married Napoleon Paradie and together they had seven additional children along with Napoleon's first four children from his first wife. The family lived in Plymouth, New Hampshire for a while, but then they bought a large farm on the top of a mountain in West Bath, New Hampshire. They lived on this farm, which overlooked the Connecticut River valley for many years before moving to Pike, New Hampshire in 1955. Ruby died in Pike, New Hampshire in 1970 at the age of 58.
