MADISON/ VALDERS - Norbert A. Kustka, age 87, died peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2005, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Madison. Most recently, he resided at the 4 Winds Lodge in Verona. He enjoyed his retirement years in Kissimmee, Fla. He grew up in Kewaunee and Manitowoc and resided at R No. 1 Cato/ Hwy JJ for 40 plus years. He was born on June 19, 1917, to Molly Thor Kustka and Anton Kustka. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. Norb was a World War II pilot of B24s in Europe and Africa. On a snowy May 29, 1947, he married Violet Pederson at Gjerpen Lutheran Church. Together they owned and operated the Book & Gift Shop for 40 plus years. During his time in Manitowoc County, Norb was involved in his community and Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. His service included Church Council, president of Valders School Board, president of Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce, president of Manitowoc Rotary, Elks Club and Wis Czech Club Membership. Norb was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His joys in life were his family, friends and meeting new people. He loved retirement in a place without snow. He enjoyed travel within the U.S. and around the world, the Packers, Cubs, bowling and golf with friends. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kustka and John Mathew of Madison; and their children, Tony and Mindy; his son, Conrad Kustka and his fiancee, Louise Boggs of De Pere; a sister, Mrs. Ed (Pauline) Reitmeyer of Appleton; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Russell (Junette) Pederson of Manitowoc. Velma Clark of Kissimmee, Fla, is a special surviving friend. He also has many nieces and nephews, their families and friends remaining. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 plus years, Violet; along with a brother, George; and three sisters and their husbands, Roger and Agnes Tagge, Gus and Mabel Balte, and Ed and Marge Garber. Also preceding him are sister and brothers-in-law, Arndt and Julia Pederson, and Russell Pederson. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2005, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, Valders. Lunch will follow the service. Burial will be private at Gjerpen Cemetry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 255 Roosevelt St., Valders, WI 54245; or the charity of your choice. The Pfeffer Funeral Home is serving the family.
