EMMETT W. POINDEXTER SR., 88, of Rutherford died Sunday. Before retiring in 1985, he was a partner in the law firm of Poindexter & Boland, New York City, for 22 years. He was a 1920 graduate of Washington & Lee University, Lexington, Va., where he received a master's degree and a law degree. He was a member of the World Court and the First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford. He was a former member of the Rutherford Auxiliary Police. Surviving are two sons, Emmett Jr. of Houston and Robert W. of Rutherford; two brothers, Miles of Danville, Va., and Morris of Savannah, Ga., and six grandchildren. His wife, Wingfield Hardy Poindexter, died in 1973. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Visiting is Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, Rutherford. Donations to the church would be appreciated.
