He was sheriff of Mercer County from 1976-1980. A 36-year resident of Princeton, he was chairman of the board of the Stag Clothing Co., Inc. He was a member of First Christian Church, Princeton, a member and past president of the Princeton Lions Club and a member of the Elks and Moose lodges, the Masons and the Shriners. He was active in the Princeton Mercer County Chamber of Commerce and the Bluefield Shrine Patrol. He attended Concord College and Marshall University. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving: wife, Woodlyn T.; sons, Ken of Alexandria, Va., Rick of Princeton; brother, Melvin of Dearborn, Mich.
Service will be at 2 p.m. today in Seaver Funeral Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Richard Flowers officiating. Entombment will be in Rest Haven Park Cemetery Mausoleum Princeton. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service.
