Matt's 2nd wife: BESSIE TOLLIVER/TARVER in Birmingham, AL, on March 11, 1918. Bessie was also from Union Springs. After Matt's death, no census record of Bessie or record of her death have been located. Bessie was not enumerated on the 1940 Birmingham, Jefferson County, AL Census. Matt's father: Dave Calhoun and Matt's mother: Frances Howard.

Matt and Mollie were the parents of 12 children. One child, Ophelia, was born in 1910 and enumerated on the 1910 Census for Bullock County, AL but we were unable to locate her thereafter on any subsequent census records. No death record was found for Ophelia.
