Loving 10-year-old son to Mike and Brenda Neuts. Loving big brother to Dane Neuts.

--In the third grade, Myles Neuts made a $10 bet with a classmate to see who could colour a picture the fastest. Myles won the bet, but the student never paid up. When Myles reminded his classmate 2 years later, another student overheard and asked what Myles was talking about. Once he was told, that other student replied "We'll make him forget, on Friday."

On February 6th, 1998, Myles was found hanging on a coat hook in the washroom of his public school. He had been the victim of two bullies, aged just 11 and 12 themselves, who thought they were having a little fun with a simple prank. It was no joke. The 10 year old boy died.

In the span of ten to twenty minutes, while Myles was left to dangle by a shirt-collar and necklace, his breathing would stop, his brain would be denied oxygen, and for all intents and purposes, he was gone. Six days later, after guarantees that their son would never regain consciousness, Myles's parents Mike and Brenda made the difficult decision to turn off his life-support machine.

One of the boys never owned up and no one was ever found criminally responsible for his murder. The inquest into the manner of his death was deemed "undetermined."

Myles' father has travelled coast to coast across Canada to raise awareness for bullying, as well as creating the 'Make Children Better Now' Foundation in his honour.--

(Myles' Poem)-

WHAT IS PEACE
March 25, 1997
BY: Myles Neuts

"To me peace is love instead of hate,
Peace is truth instead of lies,
Peace is nature and a clean world,
Peace is comments instead of complaints,
So share instead of greed,
Tell the truth instead of lies,
Tell comments instead of complaints,
Be kinder to others,
Do what ever you can do to be more peaceful,
If it means praying to God more,
Or read more of the Bible,
Don't swear or fight.
Just be more peaceful,
To yourself, and to others.
I hope my poem has made you more peaceful,
For our world."

Rest in peace, sweet child.
