Funeral Set for Clanton
WOOD RIVER--Funeral services for William (Bill) Clanton, 62, former Cairo businessman who died Tuesday morning at a Gibbon Rest Home following a heart attack will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River.
Burial will be in Cairo Cem. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Clanton was born July 13, 1903 northwest of Wood River to Henry and Julia (Stange) Clanton. He attended District 13 and Wood River High School.
He married Miss Marceline Burghardt on September 24, 1937 at Wood River. They lived in Cairo where he operated a garage until retiring at Wood River in 1964.
Mrs. Clanton died in 1956 and he married Mrs. Lena Callahan in Wood River in 1959. He entered the nursing home in 1964.
He is survived by his widow, a sister Mrs. Rudy Larsen of Omaha, 2 brothers Fred of Norfolk and Everett of Omaha, 2 step daughters, Mrs. Gene Peterson of Cozad, Mrs Richard Razenski of San Francisco and 6 stepsons, Jerome Callahan of Lexington, Floyd of Grand Island, Frank of Wood River, Bernard of Faribault, Minn, Raymond and Melvin of Sitka, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Orville.
He is also survived by his step mother, Mrs. Ada Clanton of Columbus, a brother Lee of Columbus and a step sister Mrs. Leora Kelly of Columbus.

WOOD RIVER--Funeral services for William Clanton were held Thursday morning in St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. Eamon O'Dowd officiated. Burial was in Cairo Cem.
Pallbearers were Harold Schlund, Harold Dunlap, Leo Wortman, Amos Boshart, Lee Englehart and Ben Camp.
