The Glendale Daily paper had the following account of the life of Alonza L. Baird, a former resident of Madison county. "Alonzo L. Baird, for the past twelve years, prominent in the real estate, financial and club life of Glendale, died early on Sunday morning after an illness of four months. Death, which is attributed to an ailment caused by the presence of a vegetable parasite, occurred just two days before Baird would have reached his fifty-first birthday.
Baird came to Glendale in 1919 and purchased the Broadway Pharmacy. Shortly after his arrival here he promoted and established the Glendale Research hospital, of which he was secretary and treasurer until his death. Mr. Baird was born at Pitzer, on September 1, 1880, the son of James and Eliza M. Baird, and was married in Goldfield, Nevada to Miss Carrye Smith, who survives him. Other relatives are Mrs. Garnet Young, a sister, the widow of Dr. T. C. Young, who lost his life in an airplane accident last February, a brother, M. L. Baird, San Pedro, and a sister, Mrs. George Kapus, Van Nuys.
