Stella was born October 2, 1926 in Sagamore, Mass and graduated from Bourne High School. She married her husband shortly after and they moved to West Barnstable where she raised two children as a stay at home mother. Later she worked as the bakery manager at Angelo's Super Market and Stop and Shop in West Hyannis, Mashpee and Sandwich. Everywhere she went people came up to her to say hi to the "bakery lady". She later volunteered at the Red Cross blood drives at the COMM Fire Department.
Family was everything to Stella and she enjoyed cooking her Fall Harvest family dinner and her Sat night dinners with Margaret and Mario and any family member that could make it.
Stella was the beloved mother of Richard J. Aittaniemi of West Barnstable and Joan K. Tompkins of West Barnstable. She was the adoring grandmother of Richard M. Tompkins, Randall J. Aittaniemi and Chester H. Aittaniemi. She also leaves her sister Margaret Tonello and her husband Mario of Sagamore Beach and her brother John Robert Boffetti and his wife Lesley of Sagamore and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, May 23rd at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd. (Rte. 28), Marstons Mills. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, May 24th at Our Lady of Hope, Rte. 6A, West Barnstable, followed by a burial at St. Peter's Cemetery, Grove Street, Sandwich.
Donations may be made in Stella's memory to the American Red Cross Cape Chapter, 286 South Street, Hyannis, MA 02603, or to a charity of your choice.
