Mr. Tinney passed away on Tuesday, May 21.
He was a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and an active member of First Baptist Church of Hanceville. He was founder and CEO of Birmingham Fastener and its affilitates; Tinney Farm and Stouts Mountain Ranch. He was past president of both Santa Gertrudis Breeders International and Alabama Cattleman's Association. He won numerous Santa Gertrudis National Championships; both male and female and was named Breeder of the Year several times. Mr. Tinney was also an active board member for Wallace State Community College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lane Tinney and Dorothy Smith Tinney and two brothers, Tommie and David Tinney.
He is survived by his wife, Retha Tinney; a daughter, Laila Tinney; a son, Brad (Sloan) Tinney; five grandchildren, Cameron Tinney, Townsend Tinney, Teddy Moss Tinney, Hayes Tinney and Baker Tinney; two brothers, Glenn (Sharon) Tinney and Robert (Elizabeth) Tinney; a sister, Delores (Steve) Stewart and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy Tinney, Butch Moore, Albert Swindle, Mark Tinney, Nathan Tinney and Arlin Taylor.
