Obituary extracted from the Wayne County Press, 2/21/1884:

Clark - A.C. Clark was born in South Carolina, October 3rd, 1807, died February 12th, 1884, aged 76 years, four months and nine days.

The subject of this notice moved with his parents to Kentucky when but a youth, from thence to Clay county, Illinois, in the year 1862, and from Clay to Wayne in 1864. He was twice married, and the father of eleven children by his first wife, three of whom have preceded him to the spirit world and eight survive. He professed religion about 50 years ago and united with the C.P. church in Kentucky. In 1870 after moving to Fairfield, he was elected and installed Ruling Elder in Fairfield congregation of the C.P. church, in which capacity he served. He leaves a wife, eight children, many grand-children . . . Remains were taken to the cemetery, one and one-half miles south of Fairfield, for interment.

[Note: His first wife was Helen Hedges and his second wife was Mary Stephens, who he married between 1870 and 1880. Children: Rachel [1827-1864], America, Nancy [1831-1880], Sarah, John, William, Mary [1841-1880], James, Lucinda, Elizabeth Frances, and Joanna [1850-1870].]
