Services for Farar Martin Truly, 91, of Fayette, who died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fayette Methodist Church with the Rev. Aaron Lamb officiating.
Burial will follow at the Fayette Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Truly was born May 21, 1921, in Fayette, the son of Everett Geoffrey and Elsie Martin Truly. He served as president of Jefferson County Bank until his retirement.
Mr. Truly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His tour included Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Medal of Eameto, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Indian Arrowhead.
He attended the Fayette Methodist Church.
Mr. Truly was preceded in death by his wife, Luzon D. Truly; his parents and siblings.
Survivors include one son, John S. Allred and wife, Mary Starrett, of McComb; one daughter, Mary Paige Allred Sabbatini, and husband, Charles Terzo, of Ocean Springs; two grandsons, Maj. Christopher Truly Allred of UAF Station South Korea and Charles Farar Sabbatini and wife, Breanna Gasser, of Birmingham, Ala.; one granddaughter, Mary Claire Sabbatini Gaines and husband, Sam, of Biloxi; four great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Elizabeth Allred of Columbus, Elijah Braylon Sabbatini and Lynden Alexis Gaines, both of Biloxi, and Charles Joseph "Joey" Sabbatini of Birmingham; five nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Geraldine Payton, Bobbie Gales, Doris Gaines and Evelyn Fells.
