Corp Scrivner was born in Estill Co, Kentucky around 1840. He enlisted in Co E, 4th Kentucky Infantry, Mounted on 27 Aug 1861 at the Railroad Iron Works. He died of rising of the jaw on 11 Aug 1862 at the Regimental Hospital in Tuscumbia, Alabama. His younger brother SGT John Scrivner who was also in Co E, 4th Kentucky Infantry, Mounted would die shortly after being paroled from a Confederate Prison Camp on 8 Mar 1865. His other younger brother Comm SGT Ambrose Scrivner rode with Co C, 14th Kentucky Cavalry and survived the war.
