Mrs. BACKHAUS Dies of Exhaustion -- Widow in Akron for Many Years.
An old resident of Akron, Mrs Louisa Backhaus, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs A. J. Prochnow, Tuesday morning about 9 o'clock of exhaustion and a general breakdown. She was a widow and for many years had been a resident of this city.
The funeral was held from the residence a 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, and later from the German Lutheran church of which she had long been a member. Interment in Glendale cemetery.
Comment: Louisa was born 30Jan1833 in Mellen, Pommern, (Ger/Prussia), died 17May 1910 and her surviving children were Karl, August, Mrs Prochnow and Mrs Gomoll (extracted from the Zion Luthern Church & School records)
