Gerald A. Olson age 89 of 1136 S. 23rd St. Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon May 22, 2013 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center of Manitowoc.

Gerald was born on March 8, 1924 in Manitowoc son of the late John and Anna (Kloida) Olson. He grew up in Manitowoc and was 1942 graduate of Manitowoc's Lincoln High School. He attended Bradley University in Peoria IL. Gerald served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 in the Pacific Theatre. On April 10th 1948 he was married to Marion J. Tewel at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. In the past Gerald worked for the White House Milk Company. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.

Jerry was at his happiest when he was at the family cottage on English Lake. A trip to the cottage wasn't complete without a radio by his side. Jerry listened to his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs, on his radio whenever he could.

Survivors include his wife: Marion Olson, Manitowoc; three daughters and son-in-laws: Karen (James) Kropp, Two Rivers; Gail (Thomas) Graff, Manitowoc; Kay (James) Trost, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Jodi (Tim) French; Jason (Margaret) Hendricks; Keith (Rachel) Graff; Neil (Mokihana) Graff; Ryan Trost; Marques Trost; Daniel Trost; seven great grandchildren: Kenneth and Abigail French; Connor, William and Patrick Hendricks; Dakota and Makana Graff; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Lucille (Alfred) Bloom, Manitowoc; Idabel Bloom, Manitowoc; Jane Shaw, Sherwood; one brother and sister-in-law: Rev. William (Jean) Olson, Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Beverly (Joe) Knipp, Knoxville, TN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: John (Anna) Olson; one brother and sister-in-law: John (Agatha) Olson; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Ervin Bloom; Robert Shaw; Elaine (Woodrow) Stangel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 2601 S. 10th St. Manitowoc. The Rev. Brian Staude will officiate with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Amvets Post #99 of Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11"00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the family.
