Bette was born in St. Edward, Neb., the daughter of Fredrick and Ellen (Kealy) Hirsch. She lived in St. Edward throughout her childhood where she graduated from high school. She married Ivan "Benny" Goodman in St. Edward on May 20, 1946.
In 1957, the couple moved to Santa Ana, Calif., where they raised their family. They lived in several areas of California before moving to Lebanon in 1992. Bette worked as a cashier at Walmart in Lebanon for 17 years.
Bette had a wonderful life and enjoyed playing bingo, gambling, dancing, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member St. Edward Catholic Church in Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan "Benny" Goodman in 2008. She was also preceded in death by brothers Gerald, Donald, Vernon and Dean Hirsch; and sisters Jean Nelson, Sally Armes, Gen Webster and Mary Reynoldson.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Holland of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; four sons, Craig Goodman of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and David, Steven and John Goodman, all of Lebanon; sister Patricia Barth of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. A recitation of the rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, at St. Edward Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
