Edna Reynolds and J.P. Barnes, a farmer, were married in April 1927 in Kenedy, TX. They had moved south of Santa Anna, TX when their first baby, Ruby Fay was born on November 15, 1928. The 1930 U.S. Federal Census shows J.P., Edna & little Ruby Fay living in south Coleman County on a pasture road south of Home Creek off Whon and Santa Anna Road – next to the Ed Reynolds family, Edna's parents. Over the next few years, the Barnes family made several moves and Ruby Fay gained 3 little sisters and 2 baby brothers along the way. By 1940, the family had moved to Bangs, TX, again, near Edna's parents. Ruby Fay was never a strong little girl and at about the age of 10, was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease. Just 2 months before her 18th birthday, Ruby Fay was admitted to Medical Arts Hospital in Brownwood where she passed away the following day from congestive heart failure. She was a beautiful and loving young lady and her death was devastating to the entire Barnes and Reynolds families.
