Charlie Ora Clampitt,60,of 689 South First Street, Scottsburg, Scott County, Indiana died Sunday, September 30, at Scott County Memorial Hospital after several months of illness. In declining health, he was hospitalized five days before his death, he succumbed to a heart ailment at 2 o'clock Sunday morning.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, 2 October at 1 p.m. at Gene H.Vest Funeral Home, Scottsburg, Indiana with the Reverend Robert Wilson of the Zoah Christian Church officiating; burial will be held in Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg, Indiana.

He was born in Lawrence County, Indiana, June 1, 1901 to William Curtis and Phebe Emaline (Speer) Clampitt. He was married December 11, 1922 to Oma "Blanche" (Umphress)Clampitt who survives. He was originally from Bedford, Indiana but was a local resident for the past 20 years having retired as an employee of the Scottsburg Street Department and was a member of Zoah Christian Church, Scott County, Indiana.

Addition to his wife he is survived by four sons and three daughters: Donald, West Salem, Ind.; James A., Jonesville, Ind.; Charles J., Scottsburg and Herbert C., with U.S Navy in New Newfoundland.; Mrs. Alice Vernon, Union Mills, Ind; Mrs. Marion Ellen Gillogly, Minier, Ill.; Mrs. Evelyn Brown, Scottsburg, Ind.; A sister, Mrs. Carrie Kern, Bedford and 15 grandchildren also survive.
